Christine Otten
How thin is the ice we are walking on? A successful scientist at the VU collapses at the checkout of a supermarket. A homeless newspaper vendor takes pity on her and takes her home. This is the beginning of a nine-month adventure that takes them via New York to Friesland. With this novella, Christine Otten wrote a modern fairy tale about getting stuck and daring to change.
‘A faint sunlight broke through the clouds and made the waves glisten like silver. The music filled the small space, the thin, melancholic tones of a viola mixed with the earthy sound of the cello. It almost hurt, it sounded so beautiful. For a moment it was as if the vast landscape emerged from the music. As if it were a mirage, a fantasy.’
